Client spotlight: John & Lauren

In most scenarios we often don’t get a chance to dive deep into a conversation with our clients during their wedding… after all, the wedding day is about enjoying your friends, family and each other… not talking with your DJ   So we really love it when we get a chance to connect with our clients after their wedding and hear all about their experience.  This past week we sat down with John and Lauren who got married this past October at The Black Swan Country Club to talk about what they loved about their big day and advice for future brides & grooms. Check out our interview – Q: How did you hear about NuImage? A: We heard about NuImage through our wedding venue, The Black Swan Country Club.   Q: Did NuImage do anything extraordinary that changed/help to form your wedding day? A: Peter did do something extraordinary for us… He brought a sense of calm to wedding planning. During the process, we emailed him for advice for other vendors (videographer in particular), he gave us some great suggestions. Then when it came time to plan the final details, I had peter do what he does best, I let him be creative and read the room. He said he does his best work that way, and boy did it show.   Q: What was your most memorable moment of your wedding day? If I do say so myself, the entire day and night was EPIC but if I had to pick one moment, one of my top favorites would be I took a moment to myself and...

“It’s just a small wedding”

These words are often spoken by clients who somehow think that because they are having a small intimate wedding, they should qualify for a discounted rate. I scratch my head as I sit and try and understand this. As a wedding professional that has performed at thousands of weddings over the last 25 years, it is much more difficult for us as entertainers to perform for an audience of 50 guests as opposed to 250 guests. Let me explain. It is so critical to the success of a great celebration that we are in tune with your all of your guests for every minute of your event. Let’s assume that 20-30 guests are not having the greatest time due an “average DJ performance” and decide to head out a little early. Well guess what… your party will soon fizzle because half of your guests left early. If that happens with 250 people, no one will notice. But with only 50 guests, your party is sadly over. Therefore, as a professional entertainer, it is much more difficult for us to perform for a smaller group because  A) we care so much and B) the pressure gets turned up! We need to make sure that each and every guest is having more than “an average time” by keeping them engaged from the beginning and creating an atmosphere that ensures they are excited to be there until the very end. This requires the skill and ability to constantly read a crowd and stay in their heads in a classy but upbeat way from the 1st song to the very last !...

Pros and cons of a first look

The idea of the first look has become very popular for brides and grooms everywhere. So when your big day comes will you do a first look? There are many things to think about before you commit to doing a first look.  We’re breaking down the pros and cons to help you figure out what option is best for you and for your wedding day. Pros: – More Time For Photos:  Because you’re using the time before you say “I do” you then free up the time after the ceremony to enjoy your cocktail hour or reception. Even if you do wedding party photos before the ceremony (estimated time is about 45 minutes) then family photos after the ceremony, you now have 45 extra minutes to take family photos or go to your reception. – Better Lighting For Photos: Depending on the time of year and the start of your ceremony, if you wait to take pictures until after the nuptials, you may lose ideal lighting. Make sure your photographer has your wedding day timeline on-hand to prevent this from happening. – Calm Each Others Nerves: Getting ready for the big day can be a long and nervous process. By doing a first look you have a chance to be the with only other one person who is going through the same thing.  Take a moment to breathe, reflect, and prepare for that walk down the aisle. -Beautiful Photo: If staged right, the pictures from your first look will be unmatched. Your fresh bridal style, his nerves, your smile, his tears… it’s really a moment to cherish! – You...

3 reasons to hire a DJ for your corporate event

The holiday season officially starts this week and many of us will attend numerous personal and corporate parties over the next 30 days.   This got us thinking about music and corporate parties. Have you ever been to a corporate event and it just felt like another work presentation or meeting? Well, we think that every event, especially corporate events, should provide interactive entertainment for their guests to enjoy. Today we’re sharing our top three reasons for why you should hire a DJ for your upcoming event – 1. Create a memorable environment: When we host any event we always  listen, gage, and interact with the guests.  If there is a lull in the room our DJ’s always make the necessary adjustments to create a better vibe. By having a host at the event you make guests feel included and special; creating an environment that is unique and memorable. 2. Appear and look professional: Of course you could hook up an iPod with a speaker you found in your parents attic but when you’re throwing a corporate event your actions need to be thoughtful and interactive. After-all your team/clients have worked hard all year and if you’re going to celebrate them you should do it the right way. By hiring a professional DJ you appear professional and give your guests an experience that is  goes further than just music… you make them feel special! 3. Match the music to your theme:  The right music can bring your theme to life, whereas the wrong music can leave attendees feeling thoroughly confused as to what exactly they just walked into.  If your...
